Great Southeast Pollinator Census @ CGBG

Hosted by UGA Extension Master Gardener Volunteers

Saturday, April 24th, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

How many pollinators can you name in your environment? Join us at the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens as we learn about pollinators and take part in the 2024 Great Southeast Pollinator Census on Saturday, August 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Let’s see how many pollinators we can find!

Participants in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census will receive FREE admission to the Gardens and a packet of FREE wildflower seeds for their contributions to this worthy citizen science effort.

If you aren’t able to make it to our event on Saturday, August 24th, you can still complete the census anywhere in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Florida on August 23rd and 24th, 2024. Visit https://gsepc.org/ to learn more about the Great Southeast Pollinator Census, a citizen science project created by the University of Georgia.

How it works:

First, check-in at the Andrews Visitor and Education Center front desk and pick up a map of the Gardens. Let the front desk staff member know you are here for the Pollinator Census for FREE admission!

Report to our Census Station located near the Pollinator Garden to receive your census form. Chatham County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers will be on-site to help participants of all ages complete the census.

Find a labeled pollinator plant in bloom, observe the plant for 15 minutes, and record each time an insect lands on the plant using the Counting Guide.

Turn in completed forms to the Census Station before 1:00 p.m., and we will upload them to GSEPC.org!
