
Hosted by the UGA Extension & Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens
This six-part course will consist of lectures and hands-on demonstrations from our instructors Keith Fielder of UGA Extension as well as Greg Stewart and Laura Liu of the Coastal Empire Beekeepers Association. Topics will include honey bee biology, hive management, bee forage, honey extraction, and more! There will be opportunities to troubleshoot with experienced beekeepers following each class.

Classes will be held on the following Saturdays of each month from February – August 2026.
Schedule of Classes
Each class is 10am – 12pm.
- Feb 28th – Getting Started, Honey Bee Biology
- March 14th – Package and Nuc Installation, management of installed packages and colonies.
- April 18th – Seasonal management of honeybee colonies
- May 16 – Honey harvest, extraction, processing, bottling, beeswax care.
- June 20 – Varietal Honey, Value Added, Wax Crafting
- July 25 – Managing honeybees after the harvest and troubleshooting problems with older colonies
- August 16th -Managing Varroa mites and other honey bee pests & Fall and winter colony management
